LetCo couldn’t quite work out what was wrong – they had a logo, some colours and a font style – surely that’s a brand isn’t it? What they didn’t realise was that a brand goes deeper than that and collateral items needs to be properly designed to create memorable impact and to define that brand.
Their service offering was good and their people experienced and enthusiastic but their marketing material said ‘cut-price’, ‘below average’ and ‘adequate’ – it was lack-lustre, boring and inconsistent across outputs. Like many established businesses, they were basically underselling themselves. A design review was in order. Our design team could see what was needed – a re-imagining of all their key marketing items – stationery, brochure, large format, advertising and canvassing cards featuring clean, sharp and stylish designs and new lifestyle and interiors photography. Add to that a new brand toolkit – technical reference, style guidance and core assets all in one place to ensure suppliers would always get the core elements like colour right. The result – still LetCo – but now new and confident with brochures that staff were proud to leave behind, with canvassing material that you would want to pick up and keep and outdoor posters that turned heads.
